As a WeParentMore School Participant, your school can make very relevant, timely information available for families on its custom page. When individuals search for specific parishes and schools via the My Parish and School button, the below information (provided and updated by each WeParentMore School Participant) will be displayed on each WeParentMore School Participant's custom page.
General Information Your custom page will display the following general information (provided by you) about your school: name, diocese, address, phone number, website, and email. It will also display the names of your principal and associate principals, the grades that your school serves, the number of students in attendance, and it will note if you are a blue ribbon school.
About Our School Since Pre K choices come quickly for young parents, your school needs to be a familiar, obvious choice for them when the time comes. Find ways to connect with these young families. They are your future students, room mothers and PTO leaders. You want these young parents to begin to feel connected to your school. List things that will help them imagine your school as a place where their child will be educated, cherished, challenged and engaged. Be sure they know that they are welcome to contact your school to schedule a visit.
Religious Education Highlight your religious education program that is provided in the School (not the after school program). Include any programs that you have for toddlers & preschoolers. Include a contact name and phone number.
Mission/Vision Include: *school mission or vision statement *big initiatives (your jubilee year…)
Calendar of events Take a look at what’s coming up at your school and list the key events that would be of interest to young parents and that they can attend. The key is new information. So, this will change weekly. You want people to keep coming back, so you need to give them a reason to do so. Your calendar has to be up to date, with timely, relevant information. There is always a lot going on at the school. For parents that don’t have kids in your school, they may not know what they can, and can’t attend. Always include open house dates, registration dates, visit days, shadow days. We all know the importance of school security; parishioners can’t just drop by and look around. Yet we want them to get a feel for your caring environment. List activities that they can attend that will help them see how wonderful life is at your school. For example, provide information about your school’s spelling bee, school masses, May Crowning or bake sale that non-school families can attend. List things that will help them imagine your school as a place where their child will educated, cherished, challenged and engaged. Be sure they know that they are welcome to attend these school events. All school masses are very family friendly events. List the school mass on the calendar. Help these young parents to see their child in your care.
Bulletin Board We think this is a great place for pictures. Check with your school and parish guidelines about how and where you can post pictures of your students (many schools have rules that allow a child’s picture, but not their name . . .or a name but no picture. Know the rules and work within them.) Because there is so much going on in your school that young parents can’t attend, they may not have a good understanding of all the activities, the energy, the fun and the dynamic learning environment you have. Post pics of kids helping with a food drive, kids dressed up for the Christmas Play, First Communion events, etc. Because you are a Catholic school, your students can do more than just academics. It’s a Catholic School. You celebrate Christmas, Easter, All Saint’s Day. Your students go to mass, learn the rosary, and are held to a high standard. Showcase what’s different. Showcase what sets you apart. Give young parents a glimpse into your world. To add an image, you will need the image's URL. You can include multiple images, they will appear as a slideshow on the page.
Images of School To add an image, you will need the image's URL. You can include multiple images, they will appear as a slideshow on the page.
Mass Times You can include the School Mass times. You do not need to include parish mass times.
Notes about Masses It would be helpful to include information such as: *Sunday Mass at 5pm with Children's Choir. *Crying Room available.
Sponsors (aka donuts for the teachers lounge!) We have created a spot for sponsors to help offset the cost of the site and create a little revenue stream for you. The rates and terms of the sponsor ads are yours to set. You can find one sponsor or several. The funds from this won’t put a new roof on the building, but a few sponsors at @$500 could buy some software, pay for a conference, a new set of bongos for the music room, a few dozen basketballs or donuts for a year in the teachers’ lounge. Identify local businesses that have products and services geared towards young families. The company that sells swing sets, an educational toy store, a children’s clothing store, the local family friendly health club. . . .these business owners are always looking for ways to connect with young families—give them the opportunity to sponsor your custom page on our site. A single sponsor on this page could offset the cost to be a WeParentMore School Participant.
